An $\alpha$-test is an hypothesis test that rejects $H_0$ (the null hypothesis) if and only if $p(\mathbf{X})<,=2a$, where $\alpha$ is called a significance level and $p(\mathbf{X})$ is the p-value of a random sample $\mathbf{X}$.
