Ether Channels
EtherChannels are a Cisco-proprietary technology that allows to bundle several physical Ethernet links into a single logic link. This increases bandwidth (combining the capacity of the links) and redundancy (if one link fails, the others continue to function, maintaining the connection).
The open equivalent is the Link Aggregation Control Protocol.
