Definition

Orthogonal Matrix

An orthogonal matrix is a square matrix Q such that

QTQ=I=QQT.

Equivalently, the columns and rows of Q form an orthonormal basis of Rn.

An orthogonal matrix represents a linear map that preserves the Euclidean norm and angles.
