Definition Spanning Subgraph A spanning subgraph of a graph G=(V,E) is a subgraph H=(V,F) with F⊆E. It retains every vertex of G and may omit edges. The definition also applies to directed graphs, with arcs in place of edges; it does not require H to be connected.
