Structuralism

Structuralism is the idea that things (like words, ideas, or social customs) are not intelligible in isolation. Instead, they derive their meaning from their interrelations with other items within a larger system. The invisible, underlying network of these relationships is the “structure” that structuralism seeks to uncover.
