Definition

Action

Action is the outward expression of cognition in behaviour. It is the point at which perception, memory, and reasoning are converted into movement, speech, or other observable output.

Forms

  • Motor action: bodily movement
  • Verbal action: speech and writing
  • Instrumental action: deliberate activity directed at a goal

Relation

Action closes the loop between the mind and the environment. It turns internal processing into effects that can be perceived, learned from, and corrected.
