Thalamus
The thalamus is a paired ovoid structure in the diencephalon that relays sensory and motor signals to the cerebral cortex.
It is the principal subcortical relay for nociceptive information. In migraine, sustained nociceptive input can induce central sensitisation within thalamic nuclei, amplifying pain perception.
