Definition

Atogepant

Atogepant is a small-molecule CGRP receptor antagonist of the gepant class indicated for the preventive treatment of episodic and chronic migraine.

Unlike rimegepant and ubrogepant, its primary indication is prophylaxis rather than acute abortive therapy.

Clinical Role

Preventive use

Atogepant is taken on a daily schedule to reduce monthly migraine days and lessen reliance on acute medications.

It offers an oral alternative to injectable CGRP monoclonal antibodies for patients preferring non-invasive prophylaxis.
