Inflammation is a localised protective response of living tissue to injury, infection, or irritants, characterised by redness, heat, swelling, and pain.
In migraine, neurogenic inflammation is driven by the release of neuropeptides from trigeminal nerve terminals, producing plasma extravasation and sensitisation of meningeal nociceptors.
