Meningeal Nociceptor
A meningeal nociceptor is a peripheral sensory nerve ending located within the meninges that detects potentially damaging mechanical, thermal, or chemical stimuli.
In migraine, activation of meningeal nociceptors initiates the release of neuropeptides such as CGRP, driving neurogenic inflammation and meningeal vasodilation.
