Nociceptor
A nociceptor is a specialised sensory nerve ending that transduces noxious mechanical, thermal, or chemical stimuli into electrical signals.
Nociceptors are absent from the brain parenchyma but present in the meninges, cranial vessels, and other surrounding structures, which is why migraine pain arises extracerebrally.
